Birds in Springbank Cemetery

We can easily forget we have natural treasures right on the doorstep. Two to three minutes away I have Spring bank Cemetery, which is little island of wildlife, in the middle of the city of Hull.

I walk through the cemetery most days, always with camera, and it occurred to me that I should keep a record of what I see.

Starting with the snow in January, then the snowdrops, the place is full of wildlife. When you think of the demise of 'garden' birds which used to be so commonplace years ago. Concrete gardens, modern building methods and domestic cats have a lot to answer for! The cemetery provides a haven for these birds.

Many of the regular dog walkers will tell you how beautiful it was after the snow.

I've counted seventeen species of birds over the last few weeks, not including the gulls, geese and ducks flying overhead.

I've not been able to photograph everything, the woodpeckers and woodlark are proving difficult.

Blue tits are everywhere,
this one is inspecting a woodpecker hole.

Plenty of Great tits about.
Coal tits also (no pic's yet)

Little gangs of Long tailed tits are fun to watch, but, a nightmare to photograph.

Plenty of Chaffinches, other finches not about at present.

This Robin is not afraid of the Song thrush.

Blackbirds, Blue tits and Robins are first in for the food!

                                                   bloody nuisance!
